Video Wednesday

First up is the link for this weeks Shape of a Box vid click here to read with text of the poems in the side bar or watch below: (Feel free to share and link to this vid)

Now here I should, once again, have  my video for the week.  And last week I lost  my video because of the audio failure that I recounted previously so I won’t get into that. And this week? More aggravation.

I was all excited because K had found me a software that could convert .mov to .avi files of any size.  I had a way to convert files under 200 MB, roughly under 2 minutes, but I wanted to be able to just make a video, convert it and then edit it as I had with my old camera and/or K’s video camera. But, alas, the conversion worked – sort of.

The conversion happened but the 1st half had messed up color and screeching audio.  The second half worked so I decided to just keep it because it was me reading from some old poems I found from high school, but when I uploaded it to YouTube only 1/2 of that video actually worked.

So there I was with 1/4 of what I started with and I gave up.  I’ll need to make decisions about future videos.  I think I’ll just go back to what I originally did and not edit my poem footage.  I’ll just talk to the camera and upload it and then I don’t have to worry about time which makes me rush and gives me the freedom to make errors. I’ll be doing more of a play instead of a film :)

So since this did not work out I’ll post a poem from YouTube. Enjoy and hopefully next week I’ll have more poetry/video reading success:

Video Wednesday

First up is this weeks issue of Shape of a Box. 2 poems by Allison Smythe

Next Poetry Hickory. Oh no! When I got home I discovered that my microphone apparently failed and instead of the camera actually picking up any of the audio in the coffee shop it just didn’t pick up any audio! So I have an hour and a half of people’s mouths moving :( I’m so annoyed because the readings we so fantastic last night!

If you were at Poetry Hickory and want your poems recorded for re-broadcast please let me know and I’ll meet with you to make a new video :( I’m very annoyed!

Guess I should always do a test on equipment but it had never had trouble before. *sigh* I always test when I’m doing interviews and things like that . . . oh well, can’t second guess failure. Only thing good about it? Now I have time to actually get some other things done around the house today *double sigh*

So instead I am going to link to one of the North Carolina Poetry Out Loud readings that I just found on YouTube:

I’ll make a video of myself reading some poems again at some point :(

Video Wednesday

First is this weeks issue of Shape of a Box with three poems from Ellaraine Lockie. Click here if you want to see the sidebar with text of the poems:

Then me reading one of my poems and one by SC poet Terri McCord. Click here to see info on her in the sidebar of the video:

And, to finish off, a poem by Curtis Dunlap – the Tobacco Road poet -

I’m a bit bummed this morning. My Facebook account got hacked, sort of, because I was tired one day and I clicked on a link to a video in my inbox when I knew better.  I thought I had it all fixed but now Facebook has disabled my account! I have followed their instructions to reactivate it and I sent them another email to try and get the issue corrected. This is SO annoying because I am being punished for what someone else did.  I was very prompt in fixing the issue on my end when it happened quite a while back and I have no spyware etc issues on my comptuer. So I’m just annoyed.

Hopefully, I’ll be able to get back in and chat and play around with Mafia Wars soon.  In the meantime I’ll take my anger management out on some Solitair and typing up poems I wrote in June. Wow, starting a new month!

Video Wednesday

I’m moving a bit slow on Video Wednesday.  I’m starting this post at 8:34 am, so let’s see how long it takes me to actually compile and post all the videos.  I’ve had a bit of trouble sleeping due to sinus trouble so…well..bleh!

First Video is this weeks issue of Shape of a Box. To watch with text in the side bar click on here but to just watch see below:

Next video are highlights from the monthly Poetry Hickory event:

And then a vlog about me and my adventures in weight loss management:

Then finally how about a poem for the week since I didn’t get around to recording one myself :) (This is a long video with Ted Kooser but worth the time if you have it I watched it in increments:

Issue 25 of Shape of a Box is Up and Kyoto Footage!

Issue 25 is up with two short stories!

Lise Erdrich lives in Wahpeton, ND where she works at the Circle of Nations School, an inter-tribal off-reservation Indian boarding school. The Kansas City Star just released their round-up of the years best books and Night Train made the Top 10 short fiction list. You can check it out here: http://www.kansascity.com/entertainment/story/901141-p4.html and an Author interview at Coffee House Press website: http://www.coffeehousepress.org/index.asp

Also on my personal account I have uploaded my little cameras footage from the week :) Maybe when Ken and I get a chance to work with his camera we will also be able to pull his HD footage which is much better.

Footage here

Issue 22 of Shape of a Box is up

I uploaded Issue 22 of Shape of a Box this morning. 2 poems by a slam poet. He did a lot of his own work towards getting the video complete so YAY! for that!

For the next two weeks my assistant editor will be giving me some help on getting the videoes uploaded and on sending out the emails as I prep for vacation and GO on vacation.  I’m tempted to ask for help for the week after that as well, but hopefully I’ll be recovered enough that I can do the upload.

Next week I’ll be doing the next in our interview series and I need to line up an interview to be completed in April that I can then present in May. Who will it be? Hmmmmm

Things are going along pretty well with the lit mag.  I will be finishing off the last few pieces that were accepted in 2008 over the next month or so.  I think the biggest question for “Shape of a Box” is how long will I do it?  I love doing it but it is very time consuming.  I might need to find some more people who can make videos.  I had really hoped that more of the writers on YouTube would want to get involved but so far “alas” that has not held to be true.

If you, or anyone else you know, is interested in getting involved then drop me a note or a comment, or check out one of my videos (user name charlottepoet) or the shape of a box channel and say HEY!

Have a great week everyone.

Open Mic tonight in Hickory. Tasteful Beans at 6:30! I’m gonna do my best to be there!
