Monday Measure Up

Well my Monday is already measuring up to being quite busy so this is just a quick check-in and then I must be off to more meetings etc. This is my first day back on campus (full day) as we prepare for classes to start on Wednesday 8-15-12, and I already feel slightly behind even though my course prep is essentially complete. I still need to plan the first week of classes though so diving in on that. Back to school everyone :)

I did have some frustration this weekend when I tried to use the tax free weekend to pick up some work clothes. Nothing seemed to fit right. I’m pretty used to that, but it is extra frustrating after all the hard work I have put in this summer. Le sigh.

Last week was a bit off, a feel I’ve been saying that too much lately, but I am also taking the offness a bit better than I used to. So, that is something, the learning of how to accept when things don’t go the way you want them to go. (So – I like the word so today. So sue me). Hubs and I did finally decide to purchase a treadmill for the house so we will be dropping the gym membership. Instead I can run in the neighborhood, jog on the treadmill, or take the occasional yoga class nearby. I feel better about that.

I am also continuing to clean out things from my house, and my eating out repretoire that I feel just aren’t inline with making me feel good. I continue to take those little baby steps towards better health which also included, this weekend, the replacing of shoes. Ah for new shoes to help my aching feet.

One of my meetings today was to help out one of the adjuncts who will be teaching a combo class of creative writing 1 and 2 as a face to face class. If there are tips that I’ve given you, or that you have, that you’d like me to share with her feel free to send them my way. She is looking for readings to give, writing exercises, lit mags to peruse etc so feel free to share some of your favorite creative writing tips for beginners.

And then go off and measure how awesome you are for stopping by :)

  1. Nothing ever seems to fit me either. Does it seem like everything is made for a 12 yr old?? Size large, my _____!

I’ve also had that “off” feeling lately. I think it’s anxiety. School starting–a new one for the middle kid, court again next week, some important phone calls I need to make but they will be long so I have to wait until I’m kid-free and I’ve been so busy with the kids lately that stuff like that keeps getting pushed to a later time….

Also, for us, the summer break being so short deprived us of that chance to get to that point where you are really relaxed, because you’ve had enough time to decompress, and you know there is still quite a while left….this year we’ve been trying to squish more things into less days.

I guess that’s how we measured summer this year.

Good luck with everything in the new school year! :-)

PS. You are doing great with your eating and exercise program!

  2. I hate it when I find a pair of pants or shorts I like and they are cut below the belly button. C’mon people give up that hip hug’ger almost showing your you know what fashion. I thought about writing a story about a creature that drops down from space and it finds transforming into a pair of good fitting jeans its best form here on earth, and we are okay with that. Seems I saw something similar though on another sci-fi show, but they were super hero jump suit.

Have you given up bread and pasta? It does it every time. I began losing weight the minute I (and I know I’ve preached this before) started eating more small meals a day and let bread and pasta go. Sucks I know, because I enjoy it from time to time, but I was never a sandwich kind of person. You’ll get there Jessie. We all do.

I’m curious about Val, haw are you doing on the smoking? My weakness is still sweets. Keep the Little Debbie anything Chocolate away from my lips…processed foods.

  3. What a wonderful Monday measure up, even with all you have going on! That really stinks about clothes shopping. I knew there was a reason I try not to go. I order things online . . or take whatever someone gives me. haha! NOT good advice for you, so hoping you can find some place, some how, some where that will have clothes you like and that can fit!!! ggrrr! And I think getting a treadmill at home is a great idea, Jessie! I just know you are going to love it. Best wishes for the new school year!

  4. Shoes are so ( here is that word you like) important. The right or wrong ones effect your whole body. I never knew that until recently. I bought a pair of Asics and I have really happy feet.. Good luck with the shoe and clothes shopping. It can be an ordeal.
It helped me to know what my feet were, normal, pronator etc.
