I wasn’t sure how easy it would be for me to blog from phone but I wanted to try!
Quite a few of the poems I’ve been working on for the second full length manuscript deal a lot with the issue of gender.
I read this article recently which got me thinking about it even more: http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_thelookout/20110524/ts_yblog_thelookout/parents-keep-childs-gender-under-wraps
Now, besides that it could be interesting just to discuss the article, but what I want you to consider doing is to just take some of your work and see if you find any connections between them (I know, some overlap from last week).
Why do I want you to do this? Because sometimes you don’t realize the themes that are appearing in your work.
Now, if you see some themes: why not try to write a new piece acknowledging it?
Just a thought!
Wow, I read that article and love it. I would totally support a friend or family member who wanted to do this, because I also would be curious if someone did not know, how they would treat you.
Gives me a lot to think about, most definitely!
I wish they would blog about it!
Haven’t read the article yet, but will!
And will see what I can see, looking at what I’ve been doing . . .which isn’t much. My most recent poetry seems to be either nature based or people based. Hmmm . . .but is there a connection? Thanks Jessie!
That’s why it is fun to find the connections! Sometimes what is neat is to put a bunch of poems into a word document and then scan for similar words!!
Interesting article — thanks for sharing Jessie!
Welcome!
