How about a mish mash of things to read, browse, buy etc for your Saturday?
Really liked this article in New Southerner titled Leery or Weary of Earth Day? because even if you don’t believe in global warming etc etc there is still something to be said for taking better care of things which in turns means taking better care of yourself.
Taking better care of yourself perhaps doesn’t transition without a bit of humor into the next book I am going to mention. I recently finished reading erotic poems by e.e. cummings. Let’s just say the poems are not only erotic but so are the line art drawings inside. Yep. You read that right!
Speaking of poems, I love reading the lit mag 32 Poems and there blog is pretty darn funny quite often. This entry on Quit Everything I can relate to so well as I want to cut back but such a funny take on it.
This week I finished my contributors issue of Tipton Poetry Journal. I was in Issue #15 and I’m also going to have work in an upcoming issue as well as a book review. I really love the simplicity of Tipton. Quick and fair responses are my favorite and, of course, nothing like joining the company of other fine poets. The poem I had published in issue 15 is the title poem of my 2nd manuscript that I’m shopping around.
I’ve been holding on to this next link for a while, for one of the most faithful readers of my blog Val B Russell who gave me a shout out on Feminist Blogs. I’m going to be talking more about her fantastic, really for all readers, children’s story very soon but wanted to go ahead and give thanks for writers like Val who keep me going.
Other things that keep me going are completely outside of poetry. If you are only involved in one thing you won’t have the diversity to write. I just finished a biography of Einstein (as mentioned in my blogtalkradio interview which is now linked in my resume tab) called Einstein’s Cosmos by Michio Kaku. I’m quiet fascinated with Einstein and I lucked upon this book in Border’s. Kaku is easy to read but it is funny since I have seen him on Science channel documentaries that I sort of here him reading it to me. Which is not a bad thing cause he is a good reader! There are times when the book gets a little technical towards the end but for the most part Kaku does a good job of explaining Einstein’s life as well as his theories on a level I could understand.
To close out my list today is more of a shout out but really to someone who deserves it: Margie Kaplan. She is one of the poets I have met through this blog who is doing exactly what her blog says – writing poetry from the heart. I’m not always a huge fan of rhyming poetry but when you read rhyming poetry that is written well it makes you remember why people used to do it all the time! Margie was so on my mind this week that when you see the video of my open mike from Thursday night I think she’ll enjoy that I read a poem that involved making daisy chains because I was thinking about her blog.
You guys keep me going and keep me inspired! And doing this post finally shrunk the ridiculous amount of links I was saving for you in Evernote! Hope everyone has a good weekend

Awwwww!
You are so sweet, Jessie
Thank you, I’m honored!
*Hugs*
I’ll never be as good a poet as you but I do write from my heart.
I’ll be back later today to check your links as they look wonderful, thanks for sharing them.
I’m in Moab now and off to enjoy the beautiful scenery with my dog.

Margie – good is always relative isn’t it? I never feel as good as so many poets I admire but we all have the right to dig out our own niche and show our love for poetry and that is what I love about reading your blog and your poetry.
I’d love to give you a photo to use sometime
Feel free to drop me an email!

Einstein wore the same outfit for months on end. I hope you are keeping this traditional alive.
As I write this I am wearing the first nappy I was given when I was four days old. Keepin’ it real

when I was a kid i had this whole system for not having to wash clothes as much, or so i thought. I’d wear the same PJ’s for a week, use the same towel as well and each article of clothing was worn two days in a row but to make it so I didn’t look like I was wearing the same outfit I’d were say my black shorts and a white shirt on saturday then sunday i’d keep the same black shorts but get a new shirt say pink. then monday would be the pink shirt but a new pair of shorts and so on.
yeah.
i will have other posts about my dorkiness..
