What I am calling a “me” weekend started as the convergence of two events: being invited to read in Washington, NC for the Dead Mule and my husband looking into an anime convention out of Baltimore called Otacon.
I initially accepted the invitation to read in Washington but then realized how far it was and my interest in travelling with my husband so I was stuck with a problem of what to do, normally this isn’t a problem.
It is a 5 hour drive one way to Washington and the Dead Mule reading isn’t until 4pm this afternoon. Hmm that was gonna be a long trip there and back and a lot of gas. I decided I wouldn’t be able to make the trip but did I want to make the trip up to Baltimore? Kind of but I also wanted spouse-o to have a good time and I thought – wait – this is the perfect chance for him to hang out with his brother and a chance for me to catch up with some friends who are only a few hours away but whom I don’t ge to see much.
So I put out feelers and I’m meeting up with a dear friend from college for lunch where I finally get to meet his new wife! Yay! Then I am going to putter around Raleigh for a bit before heading into Greensboro and having dinner with my first dorm roommate from college who I actually haven’t seen, well, since college! So that is over 10 years ago now! Which is like a total freaking shame!
Then home.
Last night, to start my weekend, cause spouse-o left at 4 for his second job (took off from 1st job so we could hang out and go see Harry Potter which we enjoyed) and I spent my evening reading, shopping at Target (where I spent far too much time pondering throw pillows) and catching up on shows like Primetime Crime. Yeah – I live the exciting life!
Housewatchers are in place. Kitties are fed. I need to be on the road by 8 so that gives me 30 more minutes to finish up and get out there!
Hope spouse-o and his brother have a good safe drive to Baltimore and back. I can’t wait to see the pictures
Looking forward to hearing how it goes.
Thanks
there will be details tomorrow!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who watches shows like Primtime Crime. I believe there is a time warp involved in watching shows like that, for thirty minutes to an hour you lose your ability to do something else. I hope you had a fab time on your super-deluxe me weekend.
i even stayed up after my drive in and watched a 2 hour one (which took me little over an hour cause of skipping all the computers ah dvr’s are great!) wait till you read about my book haul
