August, Where Did You Go?

Friday is my busiest day of the week I think. I do the grocery shopping and laundry, normally, but this week I also had to catch up and do the vacuuming so I already felt whipped before doing any non-housewife type duties.

This morning I reported to yet another building so I could complete my Substitute Teaching Orientation. They told us 2.5 hrs. In 1.25 we were done. The Orientation was really just that: HR policy, forms to fill out, not what I really want to know–What do I do when I get my first assignment? This weekend I need to register myself for the phone and computer system. Maybe I can find an assignment to try for Thursday of next week to test the waters.

After the orientation a nice handyman came by and is going to do the porch work we need done. Hopefully this will be enough to last until we sell the house. He is only charging us about $200 higher then what the first guy was going to charge us if he had ever done the work properly. So, I feel good about that.

I finished editting my lit mag submission for this week. I feel really good about the first two in the set, the next two I really like but probably need someone else to read them–they haven’t been workshopped–, and then the final two–one of them I think has some character but they are both a bit cheeky. Overall I am happy with the submission but this is the most nervous I’ve been about sending one out. **cross fingers**

I also did some initial edits on my new chapbook. I decided on the order of the poems and I am REALLY happy about the order but a few of the poems are going to have to be strongly tweaked.

Looks like hubby is headed to Raleigh this weekend and I have a ton to do this weekend: his quarterly taxes, sub teach register, pick poems next lit mag submit, pick poems for sept distance low res and some other phone calls and such I have to make. Might be good to be by myself for a bit!

Still glad it is the weekend :)
